General information about the project:

Project "Construction of an outdoor artificial lighting system (street lighting) in the settlements of Dimitrovgrad Municipality and the quarters of Mariyno, Vulkan and Chernokonevo" was developed to increase the energy efficiency of the outdoor artificial lighting system owned by the Municipality of Dimitrovgrad, to reduce electricity consumption, while maintaining high quality lighting, through its technological renovation and modernization, which will improve the living conditions of the population. To achieve the objectives of the project, the Municipality of Dimitrovgrad has prepared an investment project: "Implementation of energy efficiency measures in the outdoor artificial lighting system in the Municipality of Dimitrovgrad". For this purpose, the outdoor artificial lighting system in the Municipality of Dimitrovgrad is being implemented, using the existing poles by means of slingshots on which luminaires with built-in LED lighting will be installed.

Scope of the project:

The project covers the settlements in the Municipality of Dimitrovgrad:

• town of Merichleri;
• villages: Bodrovo; Brod; Bryast; Velikan; Voden; Varbitsa; Golyamo Asenovo; Gorski izvor; Dlgnevo; Dobrich; Dolno Belevo; Zdravets; Zlato Pole; Kasnakovo; Krepost; Krum; Malko Asenovo; Radievo; Raynovo; Svetlina; Skobelevo; Stalevo; Stransko; Chernogorovo; Yabalkovo;
• as well as the three city districts: Mariyno, Vulkan and Chernokonevo.

Project objectives:

Good and modern lighting is synonymous with the status and prosperity of each municipality. It creates favorable conditions for communications, contacts and active activity even in the late evening hours.

The project aims to increase energy efficiency through technological renewal and modernization of the outdoor artificial lighting systems owned by the Municipality of Dimitrovgrad, improving the conditions and quality of life of the population. The main objectives of this project are:

• Modernization of the Municipality's outdoor artificial lighting system in accordance with modern European requirements and new achievements in lighting technology;
• Improving the quality of the outdoor artificial lighting system in the settlements of the Municipality of Dimitrovgrad, in accordance with the BDS EN 13201:2016 standard;
• Increasing the energy efficiency of the outdoor artificial lighting system and reducing electricity consumption.
• Bringing the outdoor artificial lighting system in line with Stage III (in force from 13.04.2017) of the implementation of Directive 2005/32/EC setting ecodesign requirements for energy-using products (EuP).
• Creating conditions for safe movement of motor vehicles and a safe and peaceful atmosphere for pedestrians in the evening and at night;
• Protecting the environment by reducing the emission of gases accompanying the production of electricity;
• Improving the night view of the municipality and increasing the visual comfort of the city and villages.
• The implementation of these goals and objectives has been achieved in the following way:
• the outdoor artificial lighting system is designed in accordance with the new European standards for outdoor artificial lighting BDS EN 13201:2016.;
• In order to reduce electricity consumption, luminaires with LED light sources were used;
• Introduction of an automation and management system for the outdoor artificial lighting system, including the functions - measurement, monitoring and control.
• Reduction of the requested (provided) capacities to (by) the energy transmission company.

The implementation of the above goals is a prerequisite and guarantee for the construction of modern outdoor artificial lighting in the municipality of Dimitrovgrad, which will achieve:

• electricity savings;
• greater reliability and quality of lighting;
• reduction of costs for maintenance and use of specialized equipment;
• reduction of greenhouse emissions (CO2).
• significantly higher reliability of the system;
• reduction of losses;
• reduction of the accident rate and maintenance costs - including costs for labor, materials, detection of damage, overtime, transport costs.
