DIMITROVGRAD MUNICIPALITY ANNOUNCES:

A PROCEDURE FOR LOCAL ELECTION OF A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE VOICE OF YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE COUNCIL OF CHILDREN, TO THE CHAIRMAN OF THE STATE AGENCY FOR CHILD’S PROTECTION

 

 

The Children's Council has been working in implementation of the basic principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Child Protection Act since 2003. Its aim is to encourage children's participation in  policy- and decision-making processes. It includes representatives of young people from each administrative area and children from vulnerable groups, giving them the opportunity to exchange knowledge, skills and values, and to interact with governmental and non-governmental organizations at national and regional level.

The Children's Council also developed a procedure for the election of its members, approved by the Chairman in October 2018. The implementation is divided into 3 levels: municipal, regional and national.    

The composition of the Council of Children is formed by one representative of all 28 administrative districts, 4 quotas for children from vulnerable groups and 1 quota for a representative of children who have received international protection in Bulgaria. Children / young people up to the age of 18 can apply for members of the Children's Council in the following four categories:  

a) members of school forms of self-government;

b) representatives of children's and youth initiatives and programs financed by the business;

c) representatives of non-governmental;

d) individual applications.

The members of the Children's Council must meet the following criteria : 

  • Activity;
  • Creativity;
  • Tolerance;
  • Commitment to a common cause;
  • Ability to negotiate and participate in group discussions;
  • Results orientation;
  • Organizational skills;
  • Proven skills to work, motivate and unite children in the field;
  • Ability to express a position on behalf of other children in the area;
  • Possibility to travel unaccompanied (does not apply to children from vulnerable groups who need support).

 

Each child fills in an application form and a short motivation letter, as well as a protocol or other document proving the nomination. A necessary condition for applying is the current address on the territory of the Municipality of Dimitrovgrad.
