BUILDING OF ECO LIGHTING IN "NIKOLA VAPTSAROV" PARK ACCORDING TO THE PROJECT
Dimitrovgrad Municipality won a project under the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area as a leading beneficiary with partners Zlatograd Municipality, Lyubimets Municipality, Economy 2000 Club and the Norwegian Sigra Group AS, with the title ‘Increasing the ability of Dimitrovgrad, Lyubimets and Zlatograd municipalities to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and adapt to a changing climate’. During the implementation of the project, activities related to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and adaptation to the changing climate, are planned to be implemented by the beneficiaries. In the frame of the pilot activity, Dimitrovgrad will build new modern and environmentally friendly lighting at Nikola Vaptsarov Park. Solar park lighting will be installed on new pylons with built-in smart controllers for maximum solar yield and protective batteries. The value of the entire project for the three municipalities is BGN 1025612.76, 100% grant-in-aid. The budget of Dimitrovgrad is worth BGN 190992.92, BGN 115512 - for the lighting in the park.
The specific objective of the project will be achieved through the implementation of eight activities, the results of which will cumulatively lead to the implementation of the project set of purposes and contribute to the implementation of the general objective of the Program. The result of their elaboration is an increased capacity of the three municipalities to evaluate the mitigation and adaptation to climate change; to plan future actions, taking into account synergy of climate-related measures in all general and sectoral municipal policies; good practices from Norway and other countries to achieve concrete climate change mitigation measures in practice; to increase the capacity of local communities and work in partnership with them for the transition to carbon- neutral and climate-resilient municipalities.
