Professional High School “Prof.Dr. Asen Zlatarov” is a successor of the Professional School of Chemical and Food Technologies “Prof.Dr. Asen Zlatarov” and the Professional High School “Kapitan Petko voyvoda”, which are merged with an Order by the Ministry of Education and Sciences РД-14-53 of 27.06.2014.

The Professional High School "Kapitan Petko Voyvoda" is established on September 1, 2007 through the merging of two schools – Professional School of construction "Penyo Penev" and Professional School of Energy and Electronics "Kapitan Petko Voyvoda". Each of them has its own long history.

Professional School of Chemical and Food Technologies "Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov" is the first chemical school in the country. Established on 2nd of September 1949, it establishes itself in the country as a leading educational institution for professional preparation. At the end of the 70s is one of the few colleges that have their own production, and in the early 80s is the first school, which passes on self-support. In the mid 80s in the OTIH "Asen Zlatarov" are equipped the first computer labs for South Bulgaria and is build a local network (LAN). Even nowadays Professional School of Chemical and Food Technologies "Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov" strives to be among the leading professional schools. In 2009 and in 2010 it hosted the National Chemistry Olympiad and environmental protection, and in 2011 - the National Forum "Dimitrovgrad - Bulgarian capital of chemistry". The school is working on many projects, through which not only improves it material bases, but also provides students with greater opportunities for development and implementation. Currently it is the only professional school in Haskovo that approbate two strategic projects for the development of professional education ("Management for effective professional education" and "New opportunity for my future"). From the academic year 2013/2014 started working also the only one for the area school television. On the VII regional forum of the school clubs for extracurricular activities TV "Chemistry" was awarded a special prize for film. Countless are the initiatives, activities and achievements of students and teachers in the Professional School of Chemical and Food Technologies, and evidence for this is the frequent presence of the school in the media.

   In the academic year 2014/2015 in the professional school "Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov" students will be taught in 6 modern courses: E-commerce, Automation systems, Technology and microbiological control in food processing, Technology of pharmaceutical and perfume- cosmetics products, Cook and Electrical equipment of production.
