The beneficiary of the project is Dimitrovgrad Municipality with partners Lyubimets Municipality, Zlatograd Municipality, "Factory for Environmental Initiatives" Association, "Economy 2000" Club and IOWA AS Norway.

The project duration is 12 months; the period of implementation: 28.04.2023 - 28.04.2024.

 

Common goal

  • To increase the ability of the municipalities of Dimitrovgrad, Lyubimets and Zlatograd to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to the changing climate;

Specific goals

  • To increase the capacity of municipal officials to plan and implement actions in the field of climate change mitigation & adaptation;
  • To improve the knowledge and expertise of local communities on climate-related issues;

Activities

  Creation of local public climate councils;

  Analytical review of the current situation in the three municipalities, mentioned above, regarding planning and implementation of climate change mitigation and adaptation measures;

  Organizing trainings, which aims to increase the knowledge and skills of municipal experts for planning and implementation of local climate policies, involving the local communities in the process of their development and implementation;

  Researching and sharing of good practices for mitigation and adaptation to climate change, incl. in Norway as a donor country;

  Development of Plans about Sustainable Energy, Climate and Climate Change Adaptation;

  Implementation of measures to mitigate climate change through the implementation of small investment projects directly contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions;

  Development of Public Awareness Plans for Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation;
