HUNDREDS OF CITIZENS CELEBRATED THE NATIONAL HOLIDAY WITH A MESSAGE TO ALL BULGARIANS
Hundreds of citizens celebrated the National Holiday in Dimitrovgrad and senш the longest message "Proud Bulgarians". The official celebrations of March 3 began with a solemn ritual of raising the national flag in the central square. Among the officials were the mayor of Dimitrovgrad Municipality Mr Ivo Dimov, the MP Ivan Minev, the regional governor Mrs Ginka Raycheva, the chairperson of the Municipal Council Mrs Gergana Krasteva, municipal councilors, mayors of settlements and a lot of citizens who came to pay tribute to those who heroically died for the freedom of Bulgaria. The celebration began with a solemn acceptance of the military formation 52 740-Haskovo. Dimitrovgrad celebrated 148 years of Free Bulgaria following the agenda below.
The speech of the mayor Mr Dimov was patriotic and emotional:
"March 3rd is a date that we carry in our hearts, linked to our freedom, when it was a dream. The liberation of Bulgaria made it possible for our country to return to the great family of Europe. Then Bulgaria was a cause. Today, Bulgaria must be a responsibility."
The regional governor Mrs Raycheva, the member of parliament Mr Minev and the chairperson of the municipal council Mrs Krasteva also delivered congratulatory speeches. Under the sounds of the Brass Band, the crowd marched along the central city avenue to the memorial plaque, where officials and citizens bowed to the heroes of the Liberation by laying wreaths and flowers.
The crowd gathered again on the central square, where they delivered the longest message in Bulgaria, dedicated to the National holiday - "Proud Bulgarians". The message, located on a 148-meter canvas, whose length symbolically corresponds to the years since the Liberation, was unfurled by over 200 students and teachers along the central boulevard. The inspiring message, dedicated to Bulgarian history and national identity, expresses various patriotic scenes from the history of Bulgaria, poems and excerpts from songs, symbols and images that make us feel proud to be Bulgarians. All schools in the Dimitrovgrad municipality participated in its development, at the initiative of the "Pencho Slaveykov" Primary School, which implements the project under a program, financed and supported Dimitrovgrad Municipality.
The program continued with a festive concert with the participation of the Municipal Enterprise "Children and Youth Center" and the dancers from "Hristo Botev 1902" Community Center. Bulgarian folk rhythms, patriotic poems and folk songs marked the festive day in Dimitrovgrad.
