SEMINAR IN THE FIELD OF ALZHEIMER WAS HELD IN DIMITROVGRAD
A seminar on the problems of people with Alzheimer was held in Dimitrovgrad. The concept of a Day care center and other related services for people with Alzheimer and dementia, as well as, good EU practices, were presented and discussed today. The organizers of the event were the Alzheimer Bulgaria Foundation together with the Civil Association under the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2014-2021 and the Municipality of Dimitrovgrad.
“The support of the Municipality is dictated by our desire to ensure a better quality of life for people with dementia and their families. The seminar was provoked by the forthcoming launch of a new social service - Care Center for people with various forms of dementia”, said the Deputy Mr. Yasho Minkov.
The seminar was preceded by a press conference where the participants shared the main fields of work of the two non-governmental organizations.
The elaboration of a National plan, programme and statistics on the problems of people with Alzheimer in Bulgaria are among the priorities in the work of the two non-governmental organizations.
The Foundation and the Civil Association Alzheimer Bulgaria are non-profit public benefit organizations. They unite the efforts of families and professionals to improve the quality of life of people suffering from such serious disease, both medically and socially. The mission of the organizations is to help individuals and their by all means permitted by law.
The problems of individuals and families with Alzheimer's disease are the subject of European health and social policies.
The main tasks of the NPOs are:
· Improving the quality of life of people affected by dementia ;
· Changing social perceptions of dementia ;
· Presentation of the best practices for care and support of patients with dementia ;
· Providing good advice and support to anyone involved in dementia ;
· The impact of the government and the society on ensuring a dignified life for the sick people and their families, affected by the problem.
