Next week, February 21, 2022, the activities for dismantling and removal of old wood and coal heaters, within the Project "Improvement of air quality in the municipality of Dimitrovgrad by replacing solid fuel heaters with alternative forms of heating", Operational Program Environment 2014 – 2020, will begin. A representative of the company, authorized to carry out the activity, will contact by phone with representatives of households that have already installed the new air conditioned appliances, to negotiate a convenient day and time for the dismantling.

All new heating appliances must be installed by 31.12.2023, when the project implementation period expires.

Currently, activities are underway to implement the other procedure under the Public Procurement Act for the selection of suppliers of heating devices for domestic heating of gas, pellets and radiators.

The project is the largest one, implemented by the Municipality of Dimitrovgrad. It is funded by the Operational Program "Environment 2014-2020". The financing amounts to BGN 7,555,396.72, of which BGN 6,422,087.21 from the Cohesion Fund of the European Union and BGN 1,133,309.51 national co-financing from the state budget of the Republic of Bulgaria. Seven municipalities in the country have been approved to implement such projects to improve air quality.

The overall goal of the project is to improve the quality of the atmospheric air in the municipality of Dimitrovgrad by reducing the dust emissions from domestic heating as one of the main sources of air pollution. The specific objective of the project is to replace solid fuel heating appliances of households with alternative environmentally friendly types of heating devices.
