What is composting?

This is a process of decomposition of biodegradable waste in the presence of oxygen, under the action of many micro and macro-organisms - bacteria, fungi, worms, snails, ants at appropriate values of humidity and temperature. Composting is a natural way of processing and recycling organic waste, the end result of which is an extremely useful product rich in organic ingredients, a natural soil improver, extremely rich in nutrients for our plants, improving the structure, composition and retention of soil moisture. Each of us can easily make compost; there is no cost of electricity, no maintenance costs, it is useful both for us and for the environment.

Why compost?

By making our own compost, we:

  • save money by reducing the need to purchase soil improvers, artificial and organic fertilizers;
  • support ourselves and our environment;
  • each of us generates about 500 kg of waste per year; Approximately 30-40% of this amount is organic waste, which instead of being landfilled can be composted and recovered.
  • will meet the requirements and objectives for limiting the amount of landfilled household biodegradable waste.
