PUBLIC DISCUSSION SUPPORTED THE POSTHUMOUS NOMINATION OF IVAN PACHOV AS HONORARY CITIZEN OF DIMITROVGRAD
The public discussion of the nomination for the title of "Honorary Citizen of Dimitrovgrad" was held in the Grosseto conference hall in the municipal administration building. The discussionwas led by the Chairperson of the Municipal Council, Ms Gergana Krasteva.
In 2026, the only nomination submitted was that of the long-time head of the Regional Service "Fire Safety and Population Protection" - Dimitrovgrad, Chief Inspector Ivan Pachov, posthumously.
The official submitter of the proposal is the Mayor of Dimitrovgrad Municipality Mr Ivo Dimov. The public discussion was attended by colleagues from the fire department, led by the current head of the Department – Dimitrovgrad, Chief Inspector Vladimir Damyanov. They expressed their categorical support for the nomination and their respect for the man who for decades was their leader, colleague and example of professionalism.
Journalist from the Bulgarian National Radio, Ms Zhivka Todorova, also spoke in support of the proposal. She emphasized the significant contribution of Ivan Pachov to the security of Dimitrovgrad and the region, as well as the respect he has earned among citizens with his work and human attitude.
Chief Inspector Ivan Pachov has dedicated 30 years of his professional career to the leadership position in the Dimitrovgrad fire department. Over the years, he has participated in numerous rescue operations and contributed to the development of the service. For his dedication, high professionalism and merits in the performance of his official duty, he was awarded the Badge of Honor of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The final decision about the title "Honorary Citizen of Dimitrovgrad" is to be made by the Municipal Council, at a scheduled meeting.
