NEW CHILDREN’S MEDICAL DEPARTMENT FUNDED BY A LOCAL FAMILY’S DONATION OF BGN 100,000 WAS OPENED IN THE MUNICIPAL HOSPITAL
A completely new and equipped children's medical department in the municipal hospital was opened by the mayor of Dimitrovgrad Mr Ivo Dimov, the head of the hospital Dr. Aldin Karagyozov and the head of the department Dr. Roman Rizov. With a donation made by Kerka and Stoycho Yotovi in memory of their only daughter Antoaneta Yotova, the renovation was carried out. The value of the donation is BGN 100,000. With the donated funds, a complete renovation was carried out and fully equipped. The renovation allows young patients to be located in the main building of the hospital. The mayor of the municipality,Mr Dimov, addressed the donors with great gratitude, emphasizing that for the first time in the history of the hospital, a children's department will be located in the main building of the hospital. "Such gestures happen rarely nowadays. Such a donation really requires a huge heart and soul. Thank you very much", addressed the mayor.
The new department has 20 hospital beds and 12 hospital cots, located in a total of 12 rooms, of which there are four VIP rooms, in which there is a hospital bed and a hospital cot, and in the remaining eight rooms there are two hospital beds and one cot. The department has one infectious disease room and one intensive care room, which is equipped with a patient monitor for 24-hour monitoring. There is a reception room, a manipulation room, a kitchenette, a dining room and a children's corner, toilets, a bathroom, a room for the orderlies, a nurses' room, a doctor's office and an office for the senior nurse.
Dr. Rizov said that for him this is a long-standing dream, which today is becoming a reality.
The renovation and all the equipment were purchased with funds from the Yotov family's donation.
In order to create more warmth and variety for the little patients, the walls in the new children's department were painted with scenes from popular and beloved Bulgarian children's fairy tales. The initiative is from the mayor of the municipality, and the artist is Zhivko Petkov. For the children, there is also a corner with toys and books, which have the same fairy tales as the pictures painted on the walls.
Among the attendees was the longest-serving pediatrician and honorary citizen of Dimitrovgrad, Dr. Nedyalko Zhelev, who did not hide his joy at the new acquisition for the children.
