THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR 2023/24 WAS OPENED BY THE MAYOR MR DIMOV AT PENCHO SLAVEYKOV PRIMARY SCHOOL
The Mayor of Dimitrovgrad Municipality Mr Ivo Dimov opened the new school year at the biggest local elementary school. The celebration began with a national and school flags ceremony. The Principal, Mrs Maria Yaneva, addressed her colleagues, parents and students with an exciting speech, dedicated to the event.
With his wishes for successful and fruitful school year 2023/24, the mayor congratulated all teachers, students and parents. ‘Thanks to the municipal program Modernization of the school education system through digital technologies, we provided financial support to schools for purchizing of modern technological means, equipment of classrooms, and software licenses. The successful program Dimitrovgrad for the Young People, which is aimed at increasing the quality of the educational process,is to be continued through differentiated attention to the personal development of children, students and adolescents. We will continue to support the talented children with scholarships to stimulate them in their efforts in the fields of science, technology, art, culture and sports. Our vision is to encourage physical activity among children, by renewal of the school yards, gymnasiums and open-air fitness grounds,’the Mayor emphasized.
The Chairperson of the Municipal Council, Mrs Gergana Krasteva, congratulated teachers, parents and students at the Ivan Vazov hogh school. Deputy Mayor Mr Yasho Minkov was an official guest at the opening ceremony at Aleko Konstantinov Elementary School and the local English Language School. He congratulated the children, teachers and parents, wishing them a fruitful and successful school year. The Secretary of the Municipality of Dimitrovgrad, Mrs Veneta Koleva, was an official guest of the celebration at Lyuben Karavelov Secondary School. The head of Department ‘EU Cooperation & Social Activities’ Mrs Diana Doncheva shared the opening ceremony with the teachers and graduates of the local professional high school. The schools in Dimitrovgrad Municipality received congratulatory addresses from the Mayor Mr Dimov.
School year 2023/24 in figures: 4154 children start the new school year in Dimitrovgrad municipality, 377 are the first graders.
