MAYOR IVO DIMOV STARTED THE HARVEST IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF DIMITROVGRAD
The start of the harvest in Dimitrovgrad municipality was marked with a traditional ritual in the lands of the village of Gorski Izvor. The symbolic beginning was given by the mayor of the municipality, Mr Ivo Dimov.
"We are an agricultural region, so traditions must be preserved. There is nothing greater than bread. I hope the year will be fruitful," said Mayor Dimov and wished for a successful harvest, while people in old traditional costumes added the folklore ritual with their performance and songs.
"For the first time, we decided to do a ritual of starting the gravest period, at the suggestion of the farmers in the village. We organized it in a manner to show that we are united. Let it be healthy, prosperity, and really a good year with a huge harvest," wished the mayor of Gorski Izvor, Angel Georgiev.
The land for agriculture in the region of Gorski Izvor is over 22 thousand decares, most of which is sown with wheat, barley and sunflower, and a small part of it with vegetables.
