THE MAYOR INSISTS ON FINISHING THE ROAD TO STARA ZAGORA
The mayor of Dimitrovgrad municipality Mr Ivo Dimov insists to the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Mrs Violeta Komitova that the construction activities for the repair of the road to Stara Zagora, which includes the bridge over the Maritsa River, be completed . The route of I-5 passes through the territory of six administrative districts, and in the section from Ruse to Haskovo Republican road I-5 works in the European road E85. It is an European transport corridor, a part of the European road network and is extremely busy. The aim of the project is to restore and improve the transport and operational qualities and bearing capacity of the road pavement in order to provide conditions for traffic safety and good drainage in the considered section. Currently, the sections are on asphalt-concrete mixture, known as binder. In heavy traffic and in the upcoming autumn-winter season, these sections will be compromised easily. By the moment, all traffic is only in the left lane, which is a prerequisite for an accident. It is important, the construction and installation activities to be continued and the normal usage of the facility to be restored as soon as possible.
The mayor of Dimitrovgrad, with his letter, Ref.№ 53-00-5170/01.06.2021, addressed to the Road Infrastructure Agency has assigned the development of design solutions in the section of the road through the village of Radievo. The activities in this section have not started as the additional assignment for the preparation of a technological project and have not been approved yet.
“Due to the extreme traffic on the road I-5, especially in the summer season, we believe that it is essential that the activities on the site are not stopped and that they are completed on time. Another important reason for the implementation on time is the urgent release of heavy traffic, which is currently redirected on a bypass route.
For that reasons, I urge the Road Infrastructure Agency, as the contracting authority for the rehabilitation activities, to do everything necessary to restore the construction and repair works as soon as possible,” the mayor of Dimitrovgrad wrote in his notification letter to the regional minister.
