THE FIRST AIR CONDITIONERS, WHICH REPLACE THE OLD STOVES, WERE INSTALLED TODAY
Today were installed the first air conditioners under the project "Improvement of air quality in the municipality of Dimitrovgrad by replacing solid fuel heating devices with alternative forms of heating". So, in fact, the actual implementation of the project activities began.
2815 air conditioners should be installed by the end of December 2023, when the project implementation period expires.
The project is the largest currently implemented by the Municipality of Dimitrovgrad. It is funded by the Operational Program "Environment 2014-2020". The financing amounts to BGN 7,555,396.72, of which BGN 6,422,087.21 from the Cohesion Fund of the European Union and BGN 1,133,309.51 national co-financing from the state budget of the Republic of Bulgaria. Seven municipalities in the country have been approved to implement projects to improve air quality, and Dimitrovgrad is one of them.
Dimitrovgrad is, also, the second municipality in the country, which implement actual activities for installation of new air conditioners. So far, only Sofia has launched this procedure.
The overall goal of the project is to improve the quality of the atmospheric air in the municipality of Dimitrovgrad by reducing the dust emissions from domestic heating, as one of the main sources of air pollution. The specific objective of the project is to replace solid fuel heating appliances of households with alternative types of heating devices.
