DIMITROVGRAD AWARDED THE BEST ATHLETES AND COACHES FOR 2024

Dimitrovgrad Municipality awarded the best athletes and coaches for 2024 at an official ceremony this evening in Mladost Sports Hall, where the mayor of the municipality, Mr Ivo Dimov, and Mrs Gergana Krasteva, the chairperson of the Town Council, presented the awards to the sportsmen. Athlete of the year is the State wrestling champion Georgi Ivanov. In the "children's and youth sports" category, the title went to Teodor Tonchev, Dimitrovgrad Ship Modeling Club. The best coach is Salim Naim from the local wrestling club.

The award "Long-term contribution in the field of sports" for 2024 was awarded to Dimo Dinkov - a long-term active player and coach.

The Municipality of Dimitrovgrad actively supports and stimulates the development of sports by renovating sports facilities and supporting the clubs. ‘Thanks for the hard work you do to all these kids and youth building habits and winning competitive honors. Our main goal is to maintain the level of sports facilities and to have good conditions for children's and youth sports, because when these conditions exist, the future high sports results will come.’ addressed Mayor Mr Dimov to those who presented.

Mrs Gergana Krasteva, the chairperson of the Town Council and Mr Valentin Hristov, the chairman of the committee on "Education, Youth and Sport", also expressed their support for sports and its development in Dimitrovgrad.

The official solemn ceremony was opened with the performance of the Anthem of the Republic of Bulgaria.

The winners of the annual municipal sports awards for contribution in the field of sports are determined according to the criteria of Ordinance No. 42 on the symbolism, honors and awards of the Municipality of Dimitrovgrad.
