DIMITROVGRAD AND EDIRNE PRESENT CRAFTS AND CULTURAL EXCHANGE UNDER A PROJECT
Dimitrovgrad Municipality begins the implementation of the project “Touch Your Cultural and Natural Heritage” (TOUCH) in partnership with the Municipality of Edirne, Turkiye, whose main goal is to promote cross-border cooperation and cultural exchange between the partners, through the preservation of historical heritage, traditional crafts and the development of tourism. This was announced at a press conference today.
Some basic details about the project (partners, figures, and approved activities):
The project is financed under the Program (Interreg VI-A) IPA Bulgaria Turkiey 2021 - 2027, co-financed by the European Union, Integrated Development of the Cross-Border Region, under Contract No RD-02-29-783. The lead partner is the Municipality of Edirne. The other project partners are: the Municipality of Dimitrovgrad, Maritsa 2008 Community Centre and the Historical Museum - Dimitrovgrad. The total budget of the project is 983,644.49 euro (European funding - 836,097.80 euro and 147,546.69 euro - national co-financing). Accordingly, the budget for each of the partners on the Bulgarian side is as follows: Municipality of Dimitrovgrad – 425,489.35 euro, Community Centre “Maritsa 2008” – 39,700.00 euro, Historical Museum – Dimitrovgrad – 11,455.14 euro. Period of implementation of the project activities and duration: 24 months. The final should be on 17 July 2027. The participants in the meeting cleared the approved activities, included in the project time-schedule-plan and their contribution to the local communities and the citizens.
This was the initial press-conference and kick-off meeting in the frame of the project time-plan. The implementation of the rest key activities is to be on. The most interesting accent should be rafting & float boat activities which were traditional methods of transportation in the early years of the last century. The Bulgarian side of the project team, as well as the Deputy Mayor of Dimitrovgrad Municipality, Mr Yasho Minkov, responded all the journalists’ questions.
