Dozens of citizens gathered today for paying tribute in front of the monument of the great Bulgarian poet and revolutionary Hristo Botev and those national heroes who died for the freedom and independence of Bulgaria. Deputy Mayor Mr Yasho Minkov, Municipal Secretary Ms Veneta Koleva, municipal councilors, politicians, public figures and citizens laid wreaths and flowers minutes before the sirens that every year sound as a sign of national respect for the work of Botev and all the historical figures who gave their lives for a free Bulgaria.

This year we mark 150 years since the heroic effort of Hristo Botev to cross the Danube river on the steamer "Radetsky" and to join the April Uprising. Today his name is a brilliant example of love and self-sacrifice for the fatherland, inspired by national liberation and independence.
