5,231 applications were submitted by households in the Dimitrovgrad municipality for replacement of heating appliances under the air quality improvement project program - 269 are for pellet devices, 131 for heat pumps and 4,831 for air conditioners. The details were announced at a press conference today by the Mayor Mr Ivo Dimov. He, together with the deputy mayor Mr Yasho Minkov, introduced the public to the stage of the activities on this project that is the largest one, currently implemented by the municipality of Dimitrovgrad.

"The evaluation stage of applications for replacement of old heating devices with ecological ones has ended. The estimates are ready, but apart from those requesting pellet units, they cannot provide information on how many and which households will receive new units. We can give such information after the relevant public procurements. All applications for pellet devices will be satisfied, and next week all applicants will be invited to conclude contracts. The execution of the Supply and Installation Contract begins after sending a contract letter to the contractor.

The tender documentation for delivery and installation of the various types of heat pumps is being prepared.

There is currently an appeal to the Supreme Court against the termination of the public order for the supply and installation of air conditioners. A decision of the Court is expected no earlier than the end of the year.

The total budget for the project is BGN 16,008,430, with only the requested air conditioners from households being 11,681 for the amount of BGN 27,612,983, which means that there is no way to fulfill all applications for air conditioners. After the announcement of a tender procedure for air conditioners, the unit price of an air conditioner is expected to fall, and the forecast is that between 1,700 and 2,000 households will be able to take advantage of the opportunities of the program, according to the points obtained during the assessment.

The mayor of the municipality did not rule out the possibility of Dimitrovgrad receiving additional funding under the program if any of the other municipalities within the scope of the operational program fail to protect their resource, which will be directed to municipalities that have done a better job of implementing the program.
